Winter Solstice: New Beginnings

Hello!

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Savi Holden, I am eighteen years old and I live on the South Shore of Lake Superior!

I was raised here, on the homestead along with my three siblings. Coulter and Cedar are my older brothers, whom you might know of, and Opal is my younger sister.

I fell in love with this beautiful place very young, the respect and love I have for this lake feels magnetic and magical, as is my connection to the forests and land.

I grew up running through our woods, having the gift of forested acres right behind our house.

We raised animals and grew food and flowers in large, abundant gardens, all just a walk from the shores of mighty Superior.

My family also had a very strong culture of adventure, every season we were outside, exploring, pushing and growing our comfort zones, physically and mentally.

Our biggest adventure was Competitive Climbing, in the USA Youth Series.

I competed for five years, starting after my brothers and ending before, while i enjoyed it,

it wasn’t my sport… it was my brothers, and I wanted to find my thing.

As my family climbed, explored and adventured, we used our bodies a lot, we beat up fingers, got bruises, muscle aches and dry lips.

As we looked for healing products, we realized that there weren't many that we wanted to put on our skin. We have always grown herbs and medicinal plants, everything from comfrey to plantain, nettle leaf to raspberry leaf, so we decided to make our own balm! Creatively naming it "HoldOn" a twist off of our name "Holden" and inspired by climbing :)

That was all a few years ago, now, we sell HoldOn all over the country! Sharing our story and our homemade healing balm. We sell in climbing gyms, surf shops, yarn stores, gift shops and more! I have recently taken over a lot of the business, running it with my mama Stacy!

I enjoy story telling and writing, and I am so excited to began this blog post!
